MISSOURI OVERRIDES VETO; ENACTS CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY.

Late on Wednesday night, September 14th,  the Missouri State Legislature voted to overturn Gov. Jay Nixon’s veto of bill SB 656 and allow Missourians to carry concealed weapons without a permit. Known as “Constitutional carry.” Missouri is now the 11th state to have a Constitutional carry law on the books.

The state legislature overturned the Governor’s Veto by a 24-6 Senate vote and a 112-41 vote in the House. Both exceeding the two-thirds majority needed to override the veto.

The measure also expands legal protections for those who use deadly force to defend themselves in both public and private places.

The bill was heavily backed by the NRA-ILA, state groups like the Missouri Firearms Coalition, and everyday citizens.

The law will officially be in effect January 1, 2017.
