You know, I had some buyers remorse buying my BRO Fallout 15 (that included this comp) at the local Dunham’s…. mostly because I started reading about the problems folks had with them in the past.
Of course, those with a problem are usually the most vocal, so here I am, to tout this rifles merits, starting with this Competition Compensator.
This thing is excellent- on a 16” barrel running mil spec ammo, it mitigates flash and muzzle rise perfectly. The recoil impulse is straight back as it should be. It’s a beefy brake to be sure, and it definitely sends some blast back/sideways, but that’s the point.
If you look close inside the ports are floated to direct flash and blast first up then out, as well as the progressive recoil porting on the top of the comp, which you can’t see in the photos.
Finally, it follows the lines of the Fallout 15 (which appears to be based roughly of the M4 upper variant) and looks right at home on the rifle. Not that looks matter, but I do get compliments for both the look and balance of this rifle. It handles perfectly, is fit, trim, not “ultralight” by any means but several pounds lighter than my buddies well-equipped combat oriented Bushmaster.
So yeah, don’t believe everything you read/hear… for the price, you can’t do much better than a machined billet AR Fallout 15 / Competition comp from BRO. Even if I was building a precision AR, I’d still give this comp a hard look.
